Keywords Now Keywords (continued)

“Keywords (continued)” extends Keywords for American Cultural Studies and other volumes in the Keywords series by allowing authors to update their original essays when they sense significant changes in the usage and importance of their term. In this way, it also extends Raymond Williams’s foundational insight that language systems develop and change over time in ways that reflect and shape our thinking about culture and society. Our hope is that these updates will be useful to readers of earlier Keywords volumes and editions, along with instructors who are using these essays to encourage their students to think critically and creatively about the politics of language today.
